The Lydden Hill Circuit - Kent

Class A
Consisted of 6 Midgets, 1 Sprite, 2 MGB's and 4 BGT's.
Pole position was taken by Roy Clarkson (MGB) followed by Terry Farman (Midget), Phil Walker (MGBGT), Mick Mercer (Midget), Sean Valentine (MGBGT) and Lorraine Clark (Midget).
Farman got his now customary flying start and led from start to finish collecting fastest lap on the way. Mercer pulled through to second and defended this from the B's of Walker, Clarkson and Valentine. Clark held 6th from the determined Mick Hopkins who in turn was hotly pursued by Huw Taylor. Father & son Ian and David Johnson also had a close race. Only 1.1 seconds per lap separated the entire field making it a very close race. Terry-Farman

Class B
13 Maestro's and the lone Montego of Ian Evans made up class B.
Adrian Olsson took pole followed by Andy Campbell, Adrian Grocock, Nick Evans, David Mellor and Nick Gollhar.
Problems in practice left Paul Whiteman bringing up the rear on a 10 second delay, (if a driver fails to complete 3 laps in practice and they practice with another class, their time cannot be counted and so they start under a Union Jack flag 10 seconds after the green light start for the rest of the grid).
The Montego of Ian Evans failed to make the start.
Olsson took the lead from Campbell and the good start of Mellor saw him into 3rd and that was how they stayed. Further down the field Paul Naish & Kim Chapman battled continuously and Martin Meads made numerous trips through the gravel traps - presumably collecting for his garden!
An excellent close, but not too close race by everyone.
