BARC/MGOC Championship
Castle Combe
March 31st
(2nd round)

Castle-Combe-Circuit-Map
From Silverstone just a couple weeks ago,
round 2 of the
BARC/MGOC Championship moved
South and West to the
Wiltshire Circuit of
Castle Combe

The superfast circuit of Castle Combe, and the fine weather of the Bank Holiday Monday, made it a perfect day for motor sport. With average speeds of over 80mph, the pace was, 'swift' to say the least which suited both the competitor and an enthusiastic crowd of spectators.

Race Report
Class B
The early leader of the Class B cars, was Andy Cambell, but Campbell made a mistake at 'Tower Corner', perhaps falling foul to the pressure brought on him by a hungry pack Once Cambell was gone Adrian Olsson, never really looked like being beaten. Nonetheless this does not mean the rest of the field was not trying, on the contrary all the places were hard fought over...as always!

Race Report
Class A
Fast and Furious is the only way I decribe this race, with some good fast sections on the Castle Combe circuit, this must be one of the fastest circuits in the championship. Mick Mercer was the first show, just ahead of Terry Farman, but only by a nose!
But the best time to be out in front is when you cross the finishing line, and this is just where Farman was, out in front when the chequred flag was shown.

1..Terry Farman......MG Midget
2..Mick Mercer.......MG Midget
3..Sean Valentine....MGB GT

5..Darrell Atherton..MG Midget
6..Simon Stayner.....MG Midget
Fastest Lap: Mick Mercer 1m 21.01s @ 81.76mph
