The Pembrey Circuit South Wales

The 4/5th rounds of the MGOC championship moved to Welsh Wales!, to what for Pembrey, was their season opener. It was a two day meeting, Saturday was for practice, Sunday was racing. The race format was slightly different in that both the classes A+B were running 2 races, each effectiveley as a seperate round.

Class B Race 1 & 2
Race one, and the first race of the day, was won by Colin Simpson. Now into the fourth round of the 97 championship, this was Simpsons firt victory of the year.
Into race two, and it was once again Simpson who was the first to show, spured on after his win in the first race. Butnot this time! he had to be content finally, with a second place. Race winner this time round was Robb Adison, who, for this race, was not driving his own car (MG Montego) but Dave Mellors race car, an MG Maestro! It is interesting to note that Mellor finished in fifth place in the first race ahead of Addison in his Montego, while for the second race Addisson was able to take Mellors race car to a win!

Class A, Race 1&2
In race 1, 'Fearless Farman' took the honours ahead of fellow Miget driver Mick Mercer in this, a 10 lap race.
In race 2, once again, it was Terry Farman who showed the way to the chequred flag. Mercer this time was relegated to third, while second placed man was Simon Stanyer, also in a Midget.

Though there is not a lot of difference in lap times between the classes, the Pembrey layout certainly gave the class B the edge over class A. Both the driver's who set those fastest laps, Stanyer and Simpson were certainly consistant with their lap times!
