Round Seven, and Class A of the BARC/MGOC Championship saw what must be just about the closest finish this season. There could not have been the thickness of cigarette paper between the two MG Midgets of Terry Farman and Mick Mercer, with the timing equipment showing a gap of just 0.03s!
The one, two, three, was exactly the same as in round six earlier in the month,
Farman, Mercer and Valentine. The three making the podium very much their own.
Class B win was taken by Daryl Davis, who we have not seen out recently in his Maestro. It was a hectic race, as ever, with the Maestro's, with the 'Croft' circuit having more bends than the pipework in a central heating system! It was not such a close finish as the 'Class A' race, Davis completing his 8 laps of the 2.1 mile circuit in 14m 39.91s, second place was taken by Colin Simpson, with a time of 14m 41.44s, thats a gap of just 1.53 seconds, which is still pretty close stuff! Simpson though second, took the honours for recording the fastest lap, with a time of 1m 48.23s. Third place man was Andy Campbell.

Also on the race program there was a round of the Moss Europe MG BCV8's Championship
It would have been a win for Peter Collis, except for the fact he picked up a penalty of ten10 seconds, giving the win to Steve Williams.
