The Silverstone Circuit

Class A cars were first to practice on an incredibly wet track.
The grid positions were to be Philip Walker on Pole, Lorraine Clark 2nd, Hue Taylor 3rd and Mick Mercer on 4th.

The race took place on a drying circuit, Lorraine Clark got an excellent start and led into the first corner, Copse. Going into Maggots Phil Walker tried to cut in on the inside and got out of shape , almost spinning!, this then forced Lorraine Clark wide, thus allowing Terry Farman through into the lead. From that point on Farman was never really challenged, however, Clark spent several laps fighting off the efforts of Phil Gladman until a mistake by him left him and Huw Taylor fighting for third which put Lorraine Clark into a comfortable second spot (her first top 3 position). Huw Taylor claimed 3rd (also a first top 3 position), from Phil Gladman in 4th. Philip Walker spent the entire 10 laps endeavouring to make up the lost places, and his efforts were rewarded with a 5 place and fastest lap. 6th place was Roy Clarkson, 7th Sean Valentine (despite a spin at Copse), 8th went to Ian Johnson, 9th to Gerry Thorn and 10th Mick Hopkins.

Class B and suffice to say that Adrian Olsson won, after moving into the lead on lap two, with Colin Simpson, the current leader in the points standing, never really getting close enough to challenge in second spot. The best racing was by Darryl Davis and Andy Campbell who spent most of the race battling for 3rd and 4th.
Cracking stuff boys!

Our thanks to Lorraine Clark who not only provided the race report this time round, but herself finished on the podium and joined the ranks as a motoring journalist! (all in the same week!!!)
We look forward to lots more red hot news from the pits at the next round of the BARC/MGOC Championship.
( Lydden Hill, August 31st ) See you there!
