RACE RESULTS
MG ZS Car no. 11 Anthony Reid Position: 4th
MG ZS Car no. 12 Warren Hughes Position: 7th
Sprint Race
Anthony Reid claimed fourth place for MG Sport and Racing in the penultimate British Touring Car Championship race of the year at Donington Park this afternoon. Anthony ran fifth in the early part of the race, and through two Safety Car periods, before going into fourth on lap 15. Warren Hughes finished seventh in his MG ZS, while Colin Turkington took 11th for Team Atomic Kitten.
A feature of Anthony's race was his battle with Yvan Muller, the MG racer finally heading the Frenchman home.
“On one of the laps everyone was bunched up heading into McLeans,” said Anthony. “Muller braked earlier than I expected and I experienced a huge understeer and I lost some ground. After that I was clocking some of the fastest laps. We've made progress since qualifying yesterday.”
For Warren, after his success at Brands Hatch driving the heaviest car in the field, it proved a hard race after receiving a whack from a rival in the hurly-burly of the early laps.
“I received some quite heavy contact on the rear which knocked out the car's alignment and effected its handling. I've picked up a few points and I've less weight for the next race.”
It was also a tough Sprint Race for Team Atomic Kitten, Colin another to suffer after contact earlier in the race, while Gareth Howell was forced out the race after also being hit by a rival. In Gareth's case it was a major disappointment as he was leading the Independent's category – a result that would have seen him go into the final race with a chance of claiming the title.

Feature Race
Warren Hughes rounded off MG Sport and Racing's first full season in the British Touring Car Championship with a superb second place at Donington Park today.
Warren lined his MG ZS up 15th aggression through the pack combined with a rapid pit stop from the WSR team saw him end the season on the podium.
“That was one of the most fun races I've had for years” said Warren. “The opening laps of the race involved an 8-10 car battle for places. It was literally nose to tail. I really got stuck in and came out the other side unscathed. But WSR again played a massive part in the result with the pit stop. The team just gets better and better and have played a huge role in the last couple of races here and at Brands Hatch.”
Anthony Reid took eighth in the 27 lap race, one of a number of drivers to suffer in a race which saw numerous contact from other drivers. Anthony said: “The early stages of the races were going extremely well and I'd got into third place. I was in a large group and there was a lot of contact and I lost a number of places. I headed into the pits where we didn't do particularly well due to the damaged caused. As a result I lost time and a number of places.“ “The positions we achieved this afternoon with a 4th and a 2nd exceeded our expectations,” said Rob Oldaker, managing director, MG Sport & Racing. “We knew that this circuit would not be ideal for the characteristics of our car so I'm happy we finished the season with another visit to the podium.”
Dick Bennetts, managing director, WSR commented: “An eventful weekend with a great result for Warren in the Feature Race. Starting from 15th moving up to 2nd having benefited from what must have been one of the quickest pit stops of the day. I'm disappointed for Gareth (Howell) and Team Atomic Kitten when running one, two in the Independents (Cup) in the Sprint Race before being taken off by Phil Bennett. Overall achieving 13 podiums with WSR's designed and built MG ZS is fantastic.”
Both Team Atomic Kitten cars retired, Gareth Howell ending up in the gravel after a nudge and Colin Turkinton retiring on lap 7.
