BARC/MGOC Silverstone
(Round 12)

Class B

. An Horiffic accident at the start of this race delayed the meeting for over an hour. That was how long it took to cut Ian Evans from his MG Maestro. Both he and Adrian Olsson crashed into the barriers at the bridge which crosses over the Club Straight.

The race was immediately stopped, which happened on the very first lap of the very first race, the marshalls were on top of the situation in an instant, along with the medics.

Evans who hit the armco was with a huge force, was released from his after an hour, and taken immediatley to the medical centre, from there he was later transfered to Northampton General Hospital, where he was treated for a broken leg and concussion !

Adrian Olsson who hit another section of the barrier, walked away shaken, but was otherwise uninjured ! We wish Ian a speedy recovery

When the race was restarted it was shortened to 7 laps instead of the scheduled 10. With Olsson out after the incident earlier, Fergus Campbell was given little trouble by the rest of the field. He might have been caught though, had it been 10 laps. Daryl Davis in the Maestro, was on a charge and moved from a dissapointing tenth, to an impressive second ! Colin Simpson went beachcoming in the gravel trap at Copse, but came thru it, and managed to retain third place !
