BARC/MGOC Thruxton March 24th
(2nd round)

BARC/MGOC Class A

The BARC/MG Owners Club class A race at Thruxton, had an exciting climax,
Jim Baynham driving a MGB Roadster crossed the finish line first, but he Had failed to negotiate the last chicane by missing it completely, taking a short cut across the grass and cutting across the front of Matthew Read, driving a Midget. As a result or this unfortunate lapse of concentration brought on by Baynhams effort to take the lead, he was excluded from first place and awarded second. Matthew Read who had led the race from the moment the lights went green, was deservadly awarded the win !

BARC/MGOC Class B

Just because you are out in front it does not mean that you can relax, especially when you have a pack of nine highly tuned Racing MG Montego's and Maestro's hard on your tail. Yes I did say a pack of nine, closely packed all fighting over second place, and any of them could have done it.
But it was Rob Adison who in the latter part of the race, broke away from that hungary pack. The Montego with it's slightly lower centre of gravity being able to cope with the chicane better. But as the two, Olsson and Adison charged up the hill to the chicane, Olsson had the better, inside line and was able to defend his lead to the finish line. The ever flamboyant Daryl Davis headed home the pack, that followed to take third spot.
