Based on current 14/28 Morris Oxford. Four cylinder, side-valve, 1802-cc engine. Single S.U. carburetter, 1924-5; single Solex, 1926-7. Three speed gearbox. Rear-wheel brakes, 1924; 4-wheel brakes, 1925; bolt-on wire wheels and 4 wheel-brakes with servo, 1926-7. Three quarter-elliptic springs. ‘ Bullnose’ radiator, 1924-6; flat radiator, 1927. Various 2-seaters, 4-seaters, and saloon bodies. Approx. 440 built.

‘M’-type Midget
Production period:
1929-32
First production M.G. Midget, based on current Morris Minor. 847-cc., ohc., 4-cylinder engine. Single SU carburetter (20 bhp at 4,000 rpm). Half-elliptic springs. Bolt-on wire wheels. Three-speed gearbox (4-speed optional extra). Open 2-seater and closed coupe bodies. Early types panelled in fabric covered plywood, later models in metal. Approx. 3,200 built.

14/40 Mark IV
Production period:
1927-9
Developed version of flat radiator 14/28. With similar specification, but half-elliptic springs and sturdier construction. Improved handling, braking, and performance. 35bhp at 4,000 rpm. Approx. 700 built.

‘C’-type ‘Montlhery’ Midget
Production Period:
1931-2
Competition model, developed from ‘M’-type. 746-cc, 4 cylinder, ohc engine. Single SU carburetter (44bhp at 6,400 rpm) or supercharged (52.4 bhp at 6,500 rpm). Four speed gearbox. Half-elliptic springs. Centre-lock wire wheels. Two-seater racing body with cowled radiator. Number built: 43.

18/80 Mark I/II
Production period:
1928-32
Entirely M.G. chassis design. 2468cc, 6-cylinder, ohc engine. Twin SU carburetters (80bhp). Half-elliptic springs. Centre lock wire wheels. Mark I, 3-speed gearbox; Mark II, 4-speed gearbox, sturdier chassis improved brakes, etc. various 2-seater, 4-seater, and saloon bodies. Approx. 750 built.

‘D’-type Midget

Touring development of ‘M’ type, with 4-seater open or ‘salonette’ body. 847 cc, 4-cylinder, ohc engine (27 bhp at 4,500 rpm). Three-speed gearbox (4-speed optional extra on later models). Half-elliptic springs. Centre-lock wire wheels. Approx. 250 built.

18/100 Mark III ‘Tigress’

Racing model, developed from 18/80 Mark II. Similar basic specification, but with dry sump lubrication, twin-plug cylinder head, close ratio gearbox, cockpit-adjusted brakes and many other minor refinements. Four seater open racing body. Number built:5.

‘F’-type Magna
Production period

Engine developed from ‘M’-type, with two extra cylinders. 1271-cc., 6-cylinder, ohc engine (37.2 bhp at 4,100 rpm). Four-speed gearbox. Centre-lock wire wheels. Two seater (‘F2’) and 4-seater tourer and salonette (both ‘F1’ and ‘F3’). ‘F1’, 8-in. brakes; ‘F2’ and ‘F3’, 12 in. Approx. 1,250 built.


‘J’-type Midget

Further development of ‘M’-type. 847-cc., 4-cylinder, ohc engine. Two carburetters, 36 bhp at 5,500 rpm (‘J1’ and ‘J2’), 746 cc supercharged (‘J3’ and ‘J4’). ‘J1’, 4-seater; ‘J2’, 2-seater; ‘J3’, supercharged; ‘J4’, supercharged racing model (72.3 bhp at 6,000 rpm). Four-speed gearbox. Centre-lock wire wheels. Some had swept wings, instead of cycle-type. Approx. numbers built: ‘J1’/‘J2’, 5,500; ‘J3’/‘J4’, 30.

‘N’-type Magnette

Development of ‘K’ - and ‘L’-types. 1286 cc, 6 cylinder, ohc engine. Twin SU carburetters (56 bhp at 5,500 rpm). Four-speed manual gearbox. Smaller wheels on centre-lock hubs. Open 2-seater and 4 seater, also Airline Coupe and Allingham bodied 2/4 seater. ‘NA’ had rear hinged doors and plain radiator ‘NB’ (1935 on), front hinged doors and vertically slotted radiator; ‘NE’ was special racing 2-seater (won 1934 T.T.).Approx. numbers built: NA’/NB’ 750; ‘NE’ 7.

‘K’-type Magnette

Development of ‘F’-type. 6-cylinder, ohc engine, in 1087cc, 1271 cc, and 1286 cc capacities. Early models three SU carburetters, later two. Long-chassis 4-seater saloons and tourers; short-chassis 2 seaters. Four-speed manual or pre-selector gearbox. Centre-lock wire wheels, swept wings. Approx. 200 built.

‘P’-type Midget

1934-6
Development of ‘J’-type, with 3-bearings crankshaft, sturdier chassis, better brakes, more comfort. ‘PA’ (1934), 847-cc, 4 cylinder ohc engine (36 bhp at 5,500 rpm). Twin SU carburetters. Four-speed gearbox. ‘PB’ (1935 on), 939 cc engine (43 bhp at 5,500 rpm); slatted instead of plain radiator. Approx 2,500 built.

‘K3’ Magnette

Racing version of ‘K’-type (winner of 1933 Ulster T.T.). 1087cc 6-cylinder, ohc engine, supercharged, 120 bhp. at 6,500 rpm four-speed preselector gearbox. Half-elliptic springs. Centre-lock wire wheels. Two seater racing body; flat tail with slab tank (1933) or pointed tail (1934). Number built: 31.

‘Q’-type Midget

Racing model, with blown version of ‘P’-type engine, in chassis and body similar to ‘K3’. 746 cc 4 cylinder, ohc engine, supercharged (113 bhp at 7,200 rpm). Four-speed preselector gearbox. Set 750cc Brooklands track record at 122.4 mph. Number built: 8.

‘L’-type Magna

Development of ‘F’-type. 1087cc, 6-cylinder, ohc engine. Two SU carburetters, 41 bhp at 5,500 rpm. Four speed manual gearbox. Half-elliptic springs. Centre-lock wire wheels, swept wings. Open 2-seater and 4-seaters, also 4-seater salonette and 2-seater coupe. Approx 575 built.

‘R’-type Midget
Production period:
1935
Single-seater racing model. Engine similar to ‘Q’-type, but chassis entirely new with 4-wheel independent suspension. 746cc, super-charged 4-cylinder, ohc engine (110 bhp at 6,500 rpm). Four- speed pre-selector gearbox. Won 750cc class in 1935 French Grand prix. Number built: 10.
